Pearl
Here’s a pearl for you – born amidst a complex dampness, in a soup capable of both challenge and creation. Midway between inception and infection. Brief, yet resilient sea jellies exuded this obscure nacreous distillation to protect their juices and salivas. Precious little saps, fated to dry or melt, left behind the trace of their minuscule guest, imprisoned in a pretty pearlescent perpetuity.
Oyster
The best attribute of the oyster is the tension between its rough outer layer and soft pearly intimacy. The fingers are forced to dream of the nacreous lining as they caress the gray outside of the inhabited stone. Then, they stab, twist and rip. Once on the tongue, the soft sea creature is more a kiss than it is sustenance. The chin is caressed too, in a complex crisscross of sea and saliva. This act simultaneously stimulates and satiates. Simple things are sometimes the most psychologically intricate.
